How Does Your Land Lie?

In 2013 “Because of You” was voted Winner of Best Original Song at the Spiral Earth Awards.

The song pays homage to the great talent of Victorian theatre architect Frank Matcham who had a masterful understanding of acoustics and was born in my hometown of Newton Abbot. Sadly there are only a handful of Matcham’s theatres in existence today.

“Because of You” was taken from my second album, “How Does Your Land Lie?”
A history of my hometown, including diverse and bizarre stories including John Lethbridge’s Seventeenth Century diving engine, an unlikely win at Newton Abbot Races and an unusual exhibit at the local museum – a rope made from human hair.

The album features Beth Porter (cello) and Alan Cook (pedal steel, dobro), Katie Marie (bass and drums) and Paul Caddick (keys).

The cover painting by Newton Abbot artist David Stuttard.
